The process of finding a therapist can be terrifying. Questions such as “Will he understand me?”, “Will I feel comfortable talking to such a person?” and “What if we don’t click?” may arise. It is for this very reason that a client needs to feel comfortable with, and be connected with their chosen therapist. As a therapist, I place great value the personal connection between the therapist and the client in order for personal healing to take place.

Consequently, emphasis is placed within the first three sessions of therapy to gain a thorough understanding of why the individual has decided to come to therapy, and to build a relationship with my client based on trust, warmth and acceptance.

I work predominately from a psychodynamic paradigm (to understand more about what psychodynamic therapy is click here ) However, I have been trained in various theoretic and therapeutic approaches, and will use such approaches in order to meet the individual needs of the client, and their presenting difficulty.

If you’ve found yourself here, you’ve taken the first courageous step in seeking to make a change in your life. You may have a clear idea of what is burdening you, or perhaps a more vague feeling of emptiness, lack of fulfilment or unhappiness.

I aim to provide a warm, empathetic environment in which you can obtain perspective, understanding and acceptance. This is done through an integrated exploration of past experiences and how these experiences have shaped and moulded your inner self, alongside consideration of the environments, relationships and contexts which impact your present.

In each session I aim to explore the problem, generate understanding and perspective around that problem, and finally, through creative interaction, generate transformation and a consideration of new possibilities.

Therapy is an active, creative and, at times, challenging process. Just as every person is unique, so too will the experience of therapy be unique for each person. However, it is my belief that every session should be meaningful and impactful for the client.
This is your first step on a shared journey of discovery, healing and spontaneity.
